Bryan Adams to rock city in Feb

MUMBAI: 'Namaste India. Hi, this is Bryan Adams and I am looking forward to coming back to India with my band. We always get a great welcome, the people are great and so is the food. I love Indian food. See you next February.' That text message to "the Indian audience'' is by the legendary Canadian guitarist and songwriter who's all set to rock Mumbai in February as part of a four-date tour across India. Adams will entertain thousands with a playlist of his greatest hits, including Everything I Do, 18 Till I Die and Summer Of 69.

The internationally acclaimed musician, who's won 15 Grammy nominations and sold over 65 million albums worldwide in a career spanning more than three decades, will kick off the tour at Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex on February 12, followed by dates in Bangalore, New Delhi and Hyderabad. Tickets in Mumbai will cost Rs 2,000 and 4,000 and have already gone on sale online. 'Invitation Only' tickets for a VVIP lounge will also be available, with 20 per cent of the proceeds going to Save The Children, a charity that works with underprivileged children.

Sujit Jain of Netsurf Entertainment, a tour promoter and producer, said they planned to create a "carnival atmosphere'' with a DJ and refreshments available for two hours before Adams' appearance on stage. One person guaranteed to be singing along in the front row is actor Sunil Shetty, whose wife Mana is a trustee of Save The Children. Speaking at the event announcing the tour dates, he said: "I am a big fan of Bryan Adams. He plays my kind of music-'80s and '90s. It's musical and has great lyrics, unlike a lot of music today. I dance a little to his music at home, but I'm not a very good dancer!''

Explaining Adams' five-year absence since his last India tour in 2006, his tour producer Richard Coram said: "The world is big, and there's only one Bryan Adams.''
